For and by Disabled people and people with disabilities.
Indiana Disability Justice (IDJ) is a program of ICADV and a violence prevention strategy that centers neurodivergent and Disabled people, and people with disabilities to lead the work of violence prevention in the state of Indiana. IDJ works to improve organizational policies and practices, environmental design (structural factors), social norms about disability (cultural factors), and practices (interpersonal factors) to create conditions where everyone can thrive. As a nationally known training and technical assistance provider, IDJ members work with local, state and national organizations to practice disability justice.
In December 2023, IDJ published a self-paced curriculum for anti-violence service providers to build capacity to serve people with disabilities. The curriculum is on IDJ’s violence prevention resource hub, or “the Hub” (INdisabilityjustice.org). The Hub is a free online resource that houses 35+ disability-centered webinars, accessible evaluation tools, and more than 100 art, creative and editorial writing contributions by people with disabilities. In 2023-2024, more than 12,000 people from 69 countries globally accessed the disability-centered violence prevention resources on the Hub.
