Description: To the surprise of many, Heroin and opiates are not the only chemicals causing havoc in Indiana. In fact, during the last year a large increase in the number of synthetic or designer drugs used recreationally has once again been on the rise.
Indiana laws and legislation have dogged these drugs for seven or eight years by classifying certain chemicals found in them as illegal substances, but they’ve not managed to stay ahead of them. Their use often goes undetected because testing for them is not included in routine drug screening and because the chemicals used are changed so often. Nonetheless, these substances can be associated with significant toxicities, often because their concentrations are unpredictable. Adverse effects of synthetic cannabinoids for example include psychosis and other effects including death.
Like all sessions in this series, this training will be a three-hour session with a workbook, handouts, charts, and screening ideas. Additionally, this interactive session will include, a short lecture session, a video, group work, practice activities, and time to process. Since these trainings have been certified by the Indiana Professionals Bureau, we will be handing out three CEU’s free of charge.
