Funding Opportunity: Sexual Violence Prevention with People with Disabilities

People with disabilities experience a magnification of risks for sexual violence and Disabled people are victimized at a disproportionate rate of 65-98% over the lifetime. Our communities contribute to the experience of isolation for Disabled people because they are not set up for access, and often prevention and intervention programs do not invite the participation of Disabled people. These factors ultimately reduce safety and inclusion for people with disabilities.

We invite you to apply for a two-year funding opportunity to uplift the leadership and experiences of people with disabilities, including cognitive and developmental disabilities to address these issues in your community. With the guidance of Disabled leaders, you will work with a wide range of community partners to identify barriers to social support and inclusion and implement strategies to increase inclusion for people with disabilities. Social support and inclusion reduce isolation, which can mitigate depression and lessen the likelihood of sexual violence perpetration and victimization. Seed funding provides $20,000 to two non-profit organizations that practice prevention beginning December 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022 with the option of a non-competitive renewal of $20,000 for a second year (October 2022-September 30, 2023).

The application is available now and proposals are due November 18, 2021. Click here for more information.
