DESCRIPTION:What role does substance abuse play in the issue of substance abuse? Is it a risk factor for perpetrating or experiencing abuse? An indicator of lethality? A common impact and coping mechanism for survivors? The short answer to all these questions is “yes”. Substance abuse and intimate partner violence have a complex relationship and it’s important for service providers to understand it in order to be the best resource for survivors they can be. In this webinar\, we will explore how substance abuse is related to risk of perpetration and lethality\, tactics of abuse specifically related to substance abuse\, and strategies for supporting survivors experiencing issues related to substance use and abuse.
